Wounded

Kathryn here and I'm walking, well sitting, well I'm WOUNDED. I have survived my first illness, but not without a battle scar. My vein decided to play hide and seek with the nurse. I am better, but I'm afraid the arm will never be the same. Now pick me up and bring me to the feeding trough, I mean (of course) my lovely mama.

Twin Time

Hey Kathryn. Didn't the house get really quiet today? It was so much fun just you and me and Grandma S. We got to have a girls' party on Grandma's bed.

You bet, Elizabeth. First the big blonde girl went of to have fun at something called church school. What do you supposed that is?

I'm not sure, but it's much, much quieter when she's away, isn't it?

Yeah, but you know, Elizabeth, those kisses she gives us on our heads are really kind of nice.

I agree, Kathryn, but I wish she didn't want to give them to us when we're asleep. It makes it hard to stay that way. But then the house got even quieter. Mommy had to go to some place called the doctor's office for a checkup. She came home and found us like this, just talking away.

Yup, I think it's going to be kind of nice being part of a twin set. We'll always have someone to talk to and laugh with and tickle and touch and cry with and probably fight with, too.

Just think of all the fun we'll have with people trying to tell us apart. Grandpa S already has trouble with that.
Yeah, just so they don't confuse us at meal time and feed one of us twice and the other one not at all. Not a pretty picture, little sister Kathryn.
Little sister, now who was pulled out a minute ahead of whom? I don't care WHAT the hospital said, Daddy said I was first.
No, you weren't.
Yes, I was.
No, you weren't.
Yes, I was.
And so another day at the old homestead goes.
